Dr. Jingyuan Liu PhD AAICD
Chief Technology Officer
Dr. Liu has over 20 years’ experience in project management, process and equipment design for minerals processing and in the chemicals, non-ferrous metals, iron & steel and energy industries, both in Australian and internationally. He was awarded a PhD in chemical engineering from the University of Newcastle, Australia. He has worked in senior chemical engineering roles with leading companies such as Hatch Engineering and Metso Minerals in Australia and Malaysia. Dr Liu was previously General Manager, Development and Technologies with Galaxy Resources Limited, a high purity lithium carbonate producer. Dr Liu’s extensive chemicals and processing experience, including plant construction, commissioning and the manufacture of high purity chemicals will be invaluable for Altech’s next phase of development.
Carsten Baumeister
Chief Operating Officer
After studying mechanical engineering, Carsten spent a large part of his career in the automotive industry. After gaining initial experience in sales, he also managed the development department for many years. Here he was in charge of worldwide projects for various OEMs. Subsequent to that, Carsten gained experience in special machine construction. In particular, his experience included establishing a supercapacitor plant with international clientele, organisational and political work, and implementation of ERP system support required for the development of the two plants. Carsten has always been responsible for processes and products across departments. He is goal-oriented and highly motivational.
Neil Jameson
Engineering Manager
Neil brings a wealth of engineering and project delivery experience to the Altech team. Neil’s background spans 30 years, delivering projects locally and internationally, across multiple industries including: Alumina, Mineral Sands, Iron Ore and chemicals. Having a Mechanical Engineering background, Neil understands project development with the ability to identify practical solutions and tailored delivery strategies with successful outcomes achieved through clear communication, team motivation and mentoring. Working with AS standard construction contracts over a number of years, Neil brings contract and commercial knowledge supporting successful relationships and financial outcomes.
Lydia Toh, BCom, FCCA, FGIA
Group Financial Controller
Lydia is a Chartered Accountant and Fellow of Governance Institute of Australia. She has more than 20 years’ experience in audit, corporate advisory, financial management, corporate governance and general management since commencing her career with PwC in Malaysia. She joined Altech Batteries in Perth in 2018 as the Commercial Manager.
Prior to joining Altech Batteries, Lydia was with one of the downstream businesses of ASX-listed BlueScope Steel Limited in Malaysia, where she had full P&L responsibility of managing a business in the cold-formed steel and building industry.
Ms Summer Qi M.ChemEng
Processing Manager
Ms Qi is a process engineer with 10 years experience in minerals and chemicals project. She has a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Adelaide. Ms Qi joined the Company in August 2010 and is responsible for research and development in mineral processing technologies, feasibility studies and costing of these processes. This includes contributing to the Company’s R&D activities for the chemical engineering of the high purity alumina (HPA) project, including research for the optimisation and advancement of the HPA processing technology; as well as method development and project management for Malaysian operations.
Prior to joining Altech, Ms Qi was the Chemical Engineer for an ASX-listed company, Reclaim Industries. She was responsible for researching a variety of topics relating to chemical engineering to investigate possible products in rubber recycling industries.
